Dreams in a New Year

Happy-New-Year-2013
It is a New Year. A time for resolutions, hope, goals, and dreaming. I am sure that most of you have heard of the book, The Secret, or at the very least are  familiar with the phrase, Ask, Believe, and Receive. In the book the author explains this concept and gives examples of how you can follow simple rules to achieve your goals, whatever they may be, simply by asking for what you want, believing that it can be, and then ultimately receiving your intentions.
An excerpt from the book description on their website of The Secret by Rhonda Byrne:
Unknown
“The Secret has been passed down through the ages… coveted, hidden, lost, stolen, bought for vast sums of money, and known by some of the most exceptional people who ever lived: Plato, Galileo, Da Vinci, Beethoven, Edison, and Einstein, to name but a few.
The Secret book reveals how you can change every aspect of your life. You can turn any weakness or suffering into strength, power, unlimited abundance, health and joy.
Everything is possible, nothing is impossible. There are no limits. Whatever you can dream of can be yours, when you use The Secret.”
ask_believe_Receive
Is this a new concept or a revision or new take on something old? One example that may have been forgotten in the above mentioned is Matthew 7:7- Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
It is not a new idea, but it is an idea worth taking to heart. In 2013 why not Ask for something that is important to you, whatever that may be, Believe that it can happen, and Receive your dream so at this time next year you are fulfilled in knowing that you were able to stick to a goal and see it to fruition. Now I’m not saying that you can ask for something and sit around waiting for it to happen. The author of The Secret and the Bible do not say that either. It takes hard work, it takes dedication, and it takes perseverance. But in the end it also takes your positive energy and a belief in yourself. I am thrilled to see what this New Year will bring. I am setting my own goals; personal, professional, and earthly. I intend to Ask, Believe, and Receive and I am excited to look back on 2013 with fulfillment and gratitude. Wishing the same for you! Happy New Year!

New Hope and Positive Changes

It has been a year of great challenges, with man-made tragedies, natural disasters and economic hardships. We struggle with how to get into the holiday spirit when so many have suffered such great losses. However, this is the perfect time to make a positive difference. Please stop by New Stories, Old Book to share in the discussion as I reflect on Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol. Happy Holidays!
